One of the things we as women tend to overlook as women going about our day to day lives is the health of our scalp. Our scalps go through a lot of stress, from the styling of our hair every day, to products used, to buildup, dandruff and more. Today, Lionesse would like to take a minute to pay homage to our scalps – and help you see how you can have the healthiest scalp possible with a quick scalp facial.
What Can a Scalp Facial Do?
Scalp facials are quite important to reviving tired scalps that have dandruff buildup, acne, and other problems such as folliculitis. It can also help to alleviate problems brought on by product use, such as scalp itching, and hair thinning. It can restore shine, youth, and luster to the hair, and give you an overall healthier head of hair. Scalp facials should be completed once per week to maintain gorgeous, beautiful hair with a healthy base.
Methods of Obtaining a Scalp Facial
You can opt for completing your own scalp facial, or head out to your local salon to have one completed there. If you were to complete one yourself, you would need some of the following items.
Items to Use for Scalp Facials
Scalp facials usually require oils of different types, such as the following:
– Coconut Oil
– Peppermint Oil
– Tea Tree Oil
– Extra Virgin Olive Oil
How a Scalp Facial is Completed
If you are opting for completing your own scalp facial at home, depending on the type of oil being used, you will need to either apply it directly to the scalp, or dilute the oil with other ingredients. Oils such as olive and coconut can be applied directly, whereas oils with a strong scent and strong antibacterial capabilities should be applied in a diluted form, such as with water and another form of oil. Be sure when using essential oils such as tea tree, peppermint, rosemary, or other oils to only use a few drops which goes a long way.
Apply enough oil to the scalp to massage into the skin, and begin massaging all over the scalp. Also, massage the temples and forehead for extra stress relief. Allow the oil to rest in place for approximately 30 minutes. From there, apply a deep conditioner into the ends of the hair and allow that to rest for the duration in which you are letting the oil rest. After 30 minutes has passed, apply a shampoo to the hair in the shower and rinse everything off. Your scalp will feel clean, feel refreshed, and your hair will thank you in kind by looking its best.
Obtaining a scalp facial at a salon will have a similar process, but may be a tad more special being that you don’t have to do anything except sit back and relax. There are different types of scalp facials available, though, so be sure to check with your local salon to see what they have to offer.
