Spring is blooming, and that means we have a whole new season to try out different beauty looks. There’s something about spring that has us all ready to try new things with our hair and makeup looks, isn’t there? We’re all about the bouncy spring curls this season, because bouncy spring curls are always a win in our book. But before you pick up your curling iron to style those spring curls, you may want to pick up your flat iron! Yep, it’s time to use your flat iron to style bouncy spring curls and we’re going to show you how.
Prep the Hair
Before starting with your flat iron at all, you need to make sure that your hair is completely dry. Use a hair dryer to dry your hair as straight as possible. Once your hair is completely dry, experts suggest adding in a little hair serum or cream to help you get a smoother finish on your hair before moving on. After you’ve gotten your hair evenly distributed with the styling product, you’re going to want to start to prep the voluminious bounce in your hair. To get your hair prepped for more bounce, now is the time to spritz your hair with a volumizing spray. You’ll apply this all over your hair, primarily focusing on the roots but just like a hairspray product. Don’t hold the product too close when applying! After you’ve spritzed all of your roots, it’s suggested to use a hair dryer over the roots and scrunch with your hand to really activate the volumizing elements in the product applied to your hair.
Now that you’ve prepped your hair, it’s time to start the curling process. When using a flat iron, you’ll want to create sections in your hair so you have a little more control over the hair that you’re working with. Once you’ve sectioned your hair, you’re going to begin the curling process. All you do is clamp down on a small section of hair with the flat iron, bringing the iron down towards the end of the hair (about an inch or so from the ends) and then roll the flat iron just like you would with a curling iron up towards your scalp. Repeat the process until you’ve curled all of your hair. Don’t touch any of the curls until all of your hair has cooled.
You’ve curled all of your hair, let it cool, to really add to some of the bounciness you’re looking for separate some of the curls to add to the volume. This also helps to create a more effortless look to the curls. After you’ve done that, you can begin wrapping up the process and spritzing your hair with hairspray to finish things up!
Didn’t think it would be that easy to create curls with a flat iron, did you? It’s not as hard as you may think, but a great way to give you a different look to your spring curls
