Ready to amp up the volume? With your hair, that is. Achieving that gorgeous voluminous hair is a goal so many of us have for our hair styles. Of course, this time of year it can seem like it’s nearly impossible to style hair with any sort of solid volume in it. It’s clear the pros have it all figured out, anytime you head into the salon your stylist is probably able to style your hair in a way that appears perfectly voluminous. Of course celebs always have the voluminous hair worked out. So what’s the secret? We’ve unraveled some styling tips to help you amplify the volume in your hair, and we think you’re going to want to try these out for yourself.
Change Up Your Part
Most of us, if we’re honest with ourselves, wear our hair parted in the same way for most of our lives. Chances are you’ve been wearing your hair styled with the same part for an extended period of time. We’re not giving you a hard time about that, because it’s something that we all do. But if you want to amplify the volume in your hair you’d be surprised at how easily you can do that by doing something as simple as changing your part. Seriously! Because your hair gets so used to being styled in the same part, it tends to lose some of its natural volume, which is why switching it up a bit can give you an instant boost.
Get Face Framing Layers
When your hair is cut all the same length, it tends to look thicker. But thicker doesn’t always mean more volume-there’s definitely a difference! Asking your hair stylist for a haircut that incorporates face framing layers can really help to amplify the volume in your hair naturally. Layers tend to add movement and body to the hair, giving your hair a look that appears to have more volume without adding any additional styling tips on your end.
Dry Your Hair Differently
Drying your hair with a hair dryer seems like a simple enough step in any hair care routine, most of us have been using hair dryers for most of our lives at this point. But changing up the way you’re using that hair dryer to dry your hair can make a difference when amplifying the volume in your hair. For starters, it’s all about focusing on the roots of your hair because that’s really where you want the volume to come from. One of the best ways to do that when drying your hair is to use your hands/fingers to push the hair at the roots UP when using your hair dryer to dry the hair. Additionally, try pointing the hair dryer pointed upwards when doing so. That’s not where it stops though. Try the first step for drying MOST of your hair, but when your hair is still damp flip your head upside down and dry your hair the rest of the way.
