Do you have fine, flat hair? It’s easy to feel like it’s impossible to actually achieve volume in your hair when it’s fine and flat. But truthfully, having fine hair is great! We know, regardless of your hair type it’s common to feel like you’d wish you had something different. But we’re all about making the most out of what we’re given, and we know those ladies with fine and flat hair want to find ways to add some volume to their hair. That being said, we’re sharing styling techniques that add volume to fine, flat hair.
Add a Volumizing Shampoo
There are countless different types of shampoo products on the market, but for your hair type experts suggest that one of the best shampoo types is a volumizing shampoo. Using a volumizing shampoo helps to prep your hair to be more voluminous and add more volume into your hair.
Be Careful with Conditioner
Conditioners are great for locking in moisture to your hair, but it can also weigh hair down. This is especially true when you have fine hair. When you have fine hair, you want to be aware of products that can cause your hair to be weighed down as it can prevent you from achieving much volume. All that to say, experts suggest that those with fine hair avoid using too much conditioner to their scalp area. Instead of adding conditioner to your scalp area, focus on the ends of your hair to get the benefits from your conditioning product without the added weight.
Use Volumizing Products
Using a volumizing shampoo is great, but to really get volume into your hair you’ll want to add other volumizing products into your routine. Of course, you don’t want to add too many products into your hair but adding in another volumizing hair care product can help to bring the volume up a notch with your hair.
Deeply Cleanse Your Hair
Going off of the weight issue, our hair tends to get built up with oils and product throughout our days. While washing your hair helps to get rid of some of that buildup, it doesn’t get rid of all of it. Since you have fine hair and want to avoid as much weight in your hair as possible it’s suggested that adding a deep cleansing shampoo into your routine can help get rid of the buildup in your hair and allow your hair to have more natural volume (and hold more volume, easily).
Use a Round Brush
When blow drying your hair, it’s suggested by experts to dry your hair roughly most of the way by flipping your hair over (with your head upside down). This helps to encourage more volume into your hair. After your hair is roughly dried flip over normally and use a round brush to dry your hair the rest of the way. Both of these steps help to add volume into your hair throughout the entire drying process.
