So you want healthy hair, do you? Well, we sure hope you do! Healthy hair is happy hair, but it’s not always easy to keep your hair happy AND healthy-is it? Sometimes it feels like it’s incredibly complicated and time consuming to achieve healthy hair. Because we are who we are, we’re always searching for ways to streamline beauty routines to make things as easy and achievable as possible. We don’t think having a solid and functional beauty routine should be overly complicated (life’s complicated enough, anyways!). If this sounds good to you, you’re in luck because we’ve discovered simple tips for healthy hair that you may be surprised at.
Focus on Massaging Your Scalp
Washing your hair is obviously important to keeping your hair healthy, but it’s HOW you’re washing your hair that really helps to take your hair from ‘ok’ to truly healthy. Experts are always stressing that we need to massage and really focus on our scalp when washing our hair. The great news is you’re already washing your hair, so you’re not actually adding in any additional steps with this tip. Major bonus, if you ask us. What you need to start doing from now on is when you’re shampooing your hair, using your fingertips you begin to really focus on massaging your scalp with the shampoo products you’re applying. This helps to stimulate the scalp which encourages hair growth and health overall.
Use the Right Shampoo and Conditioning Products
Emily says: We often discuss the importance of using skin care that’s been specifically formulated to work with your skin type, the same idea needs to be applied to choosing your shampoo and conditioning products. Choosing products that are formulated to work with your hair type will make a huge difference in your hair’s health. When we use products that aren’t formulated to work with your hair type it can put a lot of stress on your hair, and even cause damage. If you feel like your hair isn’t quite up to par, changing your shampoo and conditioner could be the answer you’ve been looking for this entire time.
Watch Where You Apply Conditioner
Conditioning products are great for…conditioning (obviously). To keep our hair healthy we need to have hair that’s well conditioning and hydrated so applying conditioner is essential. While you should be applying conditioner to your hair, experts stress that you don’t want to apply conditioner to ALL of your hair. Instead, focusing mainly on the ends of your hair and beginning at about the half way point of your hairs length will give you the benefits of using a conditioner without weighing your hair down. When you apply too much conditioner and do so to your scalp and at the hair close to your scalp it tends to weigh your hair down, putting unnecessary stress on your scalp and hair’s strands.
See?! Taking care of your hair to achieve healthy hair isn’t as complicated as you thought.
