If you’ve been following along with us for a while, you know we’re always seeking out ways to help you with your beauty needs with tips and tricks along the way. We’ve found some great, easy tips to help you preserve your healthy locks and keep tangling locks at bay.
Never Use a Brush
We get it…brushes tend to allow you to cover more ground when trying to detangle your hair. But the fact of the matter is, brushes can make tangles and knots worse. Not to mention, brushes tend to cause even more damage to the hair. So if you want to truly preserve your healthy locks, it’s time to make sure that you’re avoiding using a brush when trying to get tangles/knots out of your hair. In addition to that, it’s important to make sure that you’re never using a brush when your hair is wet. Wide toothed combs are the best option to keep your hair healthy, and allow you to remove knots and tangles easily.
Start at the Bottom
It’s common to use a comb when going through your hair starting at your scalp and working your way down. However, when you’re working on detangling your hair you want to actually do the opposite. Starting at your scalp and going straight down can cause a lot of damage to your hair when you’re trying to get rid of knots and tangles. Instead, start at the ends of your hair and slowing work your way up. This allows you to have more control of your locks and make sure you’re removing the knots in a way that’s keeping your hair preserved.
Use a Detangling Spray
Of course, those times when the knots/tangles don’t come out with your wide toothed comb willingly…using a detangling product can be incredibly helpful. Detangling sprays/products are formulated to help add more moisture into the hair to make the detangling process much easier for the users. Keep a detangling product on hands at all times, to make sure you’re prepared in case you come up to a situation where you need it you can prevent further frustration and make sure you’re keeping your locks nice and healthy.
Keep Your Hair Well Moisturized
In general, when it comes to keeping your hair healthy and preventing a lot of knots and tangles from occurring it’s all about moisturizing. Hair that’s well moisturized and hydrated is much softer and less likely to end up in difficult to remove knots. That being said, try getting into the routine of using a deep conditioning treatment on your hair once a week to keep your hair well moisturized and conditioned.
