    Hair Exfoliation is a Thing?

The average reader will most likely recoil upon trying to visualize any benefit that might come from vigorously and caustically scrubbing away at those delicate strands of hair that took so long to grow and requires such TLC to prevent it from falling out, split ends, color loss and more. Now, before you move on to the next good read, some clarity is surely in order, and is forthcoming: To call this super-nourishing hair treatment “hair “ exfoliation is a bit of a misnomer, as it actually refers to a beautification technique applied to the scalp and kind of the hair’s roots, that miraculously delivers a wallop of healthy and faster hair growth, restoration and bounce. Let’s call it “Scalp Exfoliation.” There, now–better?

    The Age of Exfoliation
At a time when we’ve been shown all the benefits that are derived from exfoliation to other parts of our bodies–and particularly our faces–we would surely be remiss to let the wondrous benefits of exfoliation just end there–chapter closed. We love the way the new gentle and highly effective products on today’s market help us to flawlessly exfoliate and enjoy glowing skin rewards as a result. Everyone is exfoliating now, where a decade ago, cleansing and maybe using toner was all that was known, of ideal skin care. We now liberally exfoliate all of our skin–our faces, our elbows, our hands, our knees, our feet and anywhere else it’s needed, right? We annihilate dead skin cells, banish residual dirt, grime and debris from pores and smooth ourselves silly. We’ve amassed loofahs, brushes, salt and sugar scrubs and any other form of gentle exfoliation possible. We’ve got it covered, right?

Surely Someone Was Destined to Realize This
What is not skin about your scalp? And truly, is there any part of your body that receives more (or even anywhere nearly as much) of a barrage of products–mostly bent on sticking and building–the opposite of exfoliation than your scalp? Surely there is a “Duh” in here somewhere, but the main thing is that someone was able to experience that “Duh” moment before we did, and the good news is that we still get to enjoy all the benefits of scalp exfoliation, as consumers.

    The Condition of the Scalp
The poor scalp–it inadvertently becomes the target for every possible pore clogging, residue leaving and skin breathing prevention product imaginable. Even scalps belonging to the non-product oriented few, who faithfully shampoo and condition exclusively–anywhere from every day to once a week or less– develop scalp buildup. Not the time, but there are more than a few ingredients in the leading shampoos and conditioners that are not the good friends you may have imagined them to be. Many of these contain horrible hormone-interrupting ingredients that, well, let’s just say that the longer these just sit on your scalp, the more time they have to do their dirty work. Conversely, the sooner you are able to get these scary unknowns off your scalp– the better.

Not just any ol’ product will do here, especially as you are going to have to include your hair in this process, and you don’t want to harm a single strand. Use a high-quality product with only healthful ingredients, such as the Christophe Robin Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea salt. The benefits of this highly pure treatment greatly outweigh the $51 price. There are others, however, that work quite well at exfoliation, such as some which rely on microfine apricot seeds and argan shells for amazing results. By spending a bit of time every day to gently scrub your scalp, you’ll direct life-giving circulation to where it’ll do amazing things. Your hair will bounce, shine, glow and grow like never before.
