So you want glorious locks, huh? With the summer months approaching, the weather changes tend to result in our hair ending up frizzy, dry and difficult to manage. But having glorious locks sounds so much better, doesn’t it? We agree! So much so, in fact that we made it our mission to find out some of the tips and tricks to accomplishing gorgeous locks. If this sounds good to you, keep reading because we’re sharing on all our findings! Follow these rules for glorious locks:
Don’t Wash Your Hair Daily
Contrary to popular belief, washing your hair daily isn’t that great for your hair. Experts suggest that most people shouldn’t be washing their hair more than 2-3 times a week. While washing your hair is necessary to keeping your hair clean, it also takes the natural oils out of your hair. That being said, when you wash your hair too often you’re constantly stripping your hair of its natural oils causing it to become unhealthy. To achieve those glorious locks, it’s time to get into that routine of washing your hair less often to keep the natural oils in your hair. In turn, you’ll end up with hair that’s much healthier.
Take Care of Your Scalp
So often when we think of taking care of our hair, we focus on the actual strands of our hair. Truthfully, it’s been found that our hair’s health and appearance really stems from our scalp’s health. In other words, if your scalp isn’t healthy you’re not going to have healthy gorgeous hair. The best way to take care of your scalp is to make sure you’re giving your scalp a massage while washing your hair. This means you should be massaging your shampoo products into your scalp to make sure that your scalp is getting the benefits from the shampoo products-not just the ends of your hair. In addition, experts suggest that using small circular motions when massaging the scalp helps to get the blood flowing which has been found to be incredibly helpful to your scalp and hair’s health and strength.
Be Gentle on Wet Hair
Most people tend to be too rough on their hair, especially when its wet. Little known fact about wet hair is your hair is at its most vulnerable and sensitive state when, well…wet. Our hair is much more prone to damage when wet. Knowing this, make it a rule for yourself to make sure that you’re being gentle on your hair when it’s wet. This means no using brushes on wet hair, but using a wide toothed comb (gently). In addition, it means not using a towel that’s too harsh on your hair. Finally, this also means that it’s essential that you don’t use hot water when washing your hair. Hot water can cause a lot of damage to your hair, while it feels great it tends to really pull the moisture out of your hair and can cause a lot of dryness/damage to occur.
