Do you struggle to fight the frizz? You’re certainly not alone, especially this time of year. During the warm, humid summer months it’s pretty typical to end up with hair that’s a lot more frizzy than you’d like. There are quite a few different elements that can cause frizz to occur in hair, but we’ve noticed that one of the biggest struggles tends to be around drying hair. While it may seem like it’s nearly impossible, it is actually very possible to dry hair without the frizz. Don’t believe us? Well we’re going to tell you how you can now!
Add More Moisture
More often than not, frizz occurs in the hair because it’s lacking the necessary amount of moisture in order to NOT frizz. Ever notice how frizzy hair tends to look dry? It’s because it IS dry. One of the first steps to drying your hair without the frizz is to add more moisture into your hair. There are quite a few ways you can do this, between using shampoo and conditioning products that are formulated to focus on adding moisture to hair and even utilizing deep conditioning treatments in your weekly routine. The point is, it’s time to get serious about adding more moisture into your hair.
Allow Your Hair to Air Dry Most of the Way
A common mistake people make is using a hair dryer to dry their hair ALL the way. While we understand time can be an issue and sometimes you don’t have a choice, when time allows giving your hair the opportunity to air dry most of the way can help fight frizz. Allowing your hair to air dry will help your hair to really soak in any and all of the hydrating products you applied to your hair, and really allow it to become more hydrated and moisturized in a natural way. Once your hair is mostly air dried, you can then go with your hair dryer and dry your hair the rest of the way/style it how you like. It may seem odd, but it really can work wonders on fighting the frizz.
Sleep on Silk
Your sleeping habits may seem irrelevant to your hair drying process, but so many experts stress that sleeping on silk can do wonders for your hair’s health overall. Especially when it comes down to fighting frizz. Like we said, frizz tends to occur when your hair is lacking enough moisture and sleeping with silk around your hair, allows your hair to hold onto the natural oils in your hair much more effectively. If you’re not already, it’s time to switch your pillow case and/or start wrapping a silk scarf around your hair so that your hair is able to be much more full of moisture to prevent frizz from occurring in the first place.
Of course, don’t forget that maintaining a healthy skin care routine overall is going to be a big part of fighting frizz while drying your hair.
