So many of us spend SO much time doing things related to our hair. Whether it’s hair care, spending the time to get your hair done, purchasing hair care products…you name it we do it. We all can admit it’s really enjoyable when we feel good about the way our hair looks, and we don’t enjoy it too much when our hair just isn’t cooperating with us. Although we love to keep things fun and positive around here, we do want to make sure you’re informed on the latter as well. Ok, we’re just going to say it… don’t commit hair sabotage. Ok, ok, we know it may be easier said than done and we also realize you may not be fully aware of when you are committing hair sabotage. So, we’ve got the details!
Using Too Much Heat
Another way you may be committing hair sabotage (and not even realizing it) is by using too much heat when styling your hair. The thing about heat, is it does have an impact on your hair, even if you use the right products and hair care products. Your hair needs a break, so it’s important to try not to use heated hair styling tools on your hair every day – give your hair a bit of a break to give it a chance to breathe. In addition to not using heat too often, it’s also important to make sure that when you are using heat it’s accommodating to your hair’s type. Ok, before we confuse you think of it like this: if you have very fine or thin hair you shouldn’t use a very high heat setting, while if you do have thick or coarse hair you can add a little higher temp to actually styling your hair. Using heat that’s not coordinating to your hair type can cause you to have a lot of damage.
Over-washing Your Hair
So many of us grew up being told that we need to wash our hair every single day in order to be clean and sanitary. And while we want everyone to be clean and sanitary, it’s actually been found that washing your hair on a daily basis isn’t that great for it. The thing about washing your hair is it strips your hair of its natural oils…the oils that it does need in order to look and function the way you want it to. This being said, washing your hair too often can cause your hair to become dry and brittle. In turn, it can actually be sabotaging your hair. Instead, try breaking up the days in which you wash your hair to every other day or every two days if you can.
Not Using the Right Products
Using the right hair care products is crucial to your hair’s health and appearance. If you really want to not commit hair sabotage you need to take a look at your hair care products and make sure they’re really in line with your hair type. Just like skin care, you need to ensure that the hair care products you use are catering to your hair type to really get the best benefit from using them.
