When was the last time you thought about parting your hair? For most of us we get into a routine with parting our hair. Sure we may change it up every once in a while but if we’re honest with ourselves it’s not all that often, it’s a routine that we don’t think much about we just don’t it. Since it isn’t something we think deeply about we thought it was time we talk all about hair parting. There are some ways of parting your hair that are better than others, according to your hair type. Let’s get started, shall we?
Fine
Fine hair tends to lack a lot of natural volume, which can cause frustration when you’re someone who has fine hair. The good news is there’s a way to part your fine hair to add a little natural boost of volume to your hair style, just with your part. The key? Parting your hair off to the side instead of down the center. Parting fine hair on the side helps to create a little volume, but you’re not going to create a traditionally side part. Instead you need to create a part that starts off like a side part but goes back, towards the center in a diagonal line.
Thick (straight)
Thick, straight hair needs a part that’s completely different than those with fine hair because your hair texture is very different! The best way to part thick, straight hair is in the center. Although you don’t likely want a PERFECTLY centered part as that tends to be quite harsh on anyone. Creating a part that’s (mostly) centered helps to allow your naturally thick, straight hair to do its thing naturally. The centered part helps to balance your hair instead of adding too much volume to one side that can cause a lot of struggle with styling thick, straight hair.
Very Curly
Regardless of your hair length when you have naturally curly hair experts suggest the best way to go about parting your hair is to…not part it. Sound odd? Allowing your naturally curly hair to fall the way it does on its own is the best way to part it. So you’re actually not parting it at all. This allows your curls to do their thing which automatically brings out their natural texture in a much more tamed way.
Cowlick
Do you have a cowlick on your hairline? This tends to be something that causes frustration for many because regardless of the way you style your hair, cut your hair, or anything else the cowlick continues to show its head every time. Experts suggest the best way to part your hair when you have a cowlick on your hair line is to go in the direction and part your hair according to the cowlick. Don’t fight it, work with it. Trust us, you’ll be much happier and significantly less irritated.
