Achieving perfectly curled hair sounds almost too good to be true, doesn’t it? So many of us spend hours and hours every single week in hopes to achieve those gorgeous curls. We’re pretty fortunate to have a number of different curling options available to us, but many stay loyal to the ever popular curling iron. Curling irons are great, but they do mean adding heat to our hair. If you’re like us, minimizing the amount of heat you apply to your hair is a priority for a number of reasons-but just maintaining healthy, gorgeous hair is the main reason. We’ve rediscovered a heat-free method to curling your hair and we’re suggesting you add flexi rods to your style cache, to try it out!
Flexi rods are, as we mentioned, a heat free curling method. They’re essentially flexible rods (go figure, right?) that come in a variety of different sizes to allow you to curl your hair depending up on the size curls you desire for your look. We know, it sounds too good to be true but they’ve been blowing up on social media because so many women are remembering just how easy they are to use and the incredible curls they produce. As an added bonus (as if we needed one) they work on pretty much any hair type. Now, flexi rods are incredibly effective but we do want to preface the fact that because they are heat less they aren’t going to provide instant results like a curling iron does.
Many users have found that they’re able to achieve gorgeously curled results when using flexi rods on both wet and dry hair. The results do vary a bit depending upon whether you hair is wet or dry when beginning the process of using them, so we suggest trying them out both ways to see what results you like better for your hair type and desired look.
Much like any curling or hair styling technique, taking care of your hair and focusing on moisture is going to help your hair to hold onto the curls better and much longer. We suggest applying a small amount of leave in conditioner to your hair before adding the flexi rods to your hair. The best way to use flexi rods, in our opinion, is to create sections in your hair to apply them to the hair little by little. Think of adding the flexi rods to your hair in the method that most of us use when curling hair with a curling iron. Starting with the hair at the nape of the neck, tying the rest up and out of the way, and working your way up. This is a great way to have more control over your hair and not end up getting hair twisted into the flexi rods, where you don’t want it.
If you haven’t tried flexi rods yet, we don’t know what you’re waiting for. It’s going to be a game changer to your hair styling routine!
