You know those girls who seem to wake up every morning with the, ‘I woke up like this’ mantra painted on their forehead? You know the ones, the flawless, pretty girls with the absolutely perfect hair that seems so well put together. Well, it’s actually a lot harder than it looks to have gorgeous hair – and no, they didn’t just wake up that way. It takes a lot of work to really have beautiful hair that is well taken care of. Today, Lionesse shows you how you too can have beautiful hair once and for all – and if you incorporate these tips into your hair care routine, you certainly will see some big improvements.
Splurge a Bit on Style
You want a haircut that screams, ‘mine’, while showcasing your personality in its true form and looking stellar in the process. You want something that is going to draw the attention to your hair and face, but that won’t be so distracting that nobody can focus at work because of your style. Heading to a stylist who shares the same style ideas as you will ensure you wind up with a cut and style you adore and love, and one you can be proud of wearing.
Don’t Overdo Shampooing
Don’t overwash or over condition your hair, if you want to have that perfect, natural oily sheen. When you wash your hair excessively, you will find that your hair becomes dried out and isn’t as beautiful as it could be when you don’t wash it much. A good blowout can last anywhere from 3-7 days, depending on your hair structure and the oil production your hair has. If it’s really oily, wash it – but if it’s only a little bit shiny, and you don’t want to wash away the essential natural oils in your hair.
Special Scalp Treatment
Having gorgeous hair isn’t all about maintaining your hair itself, but maintaining your scalp as well. Sometimes, product buildup can cause your scalp to become irritated, itchy, and make your hair appear less than beautiful. Add about a tablespoon of baking soda to your shampoo to purify your hair and remove all buildup from the scalp, and you can even massage some coconut oil into your scalp before washing your hair to give it beautiful sheen, moisturize the scalp, and remove impurities this way as well.
Cocktail Your Shampoos
Rather than use one specific shampoo on your hair, try using a couple. Use a clarifying shampoo on your scalp, and a moisturizing and hydrating shampoo on the ends. You can usually balance out combination hair this way. You can also use a normal shampoo on the middle of the hair to provide the best clean for this part of the hair possible.
Condition When Not Washing
If you are opting not to wash your hair for about a week at a time, you can at least rinse your hair with water and apply a conditioner to the hair for a few minutes at a time, rinsing it out before leaving the shower, and add some spray in leave in conditioner once your hair has been towel dried and combed.
Don’t Heat Style Often
Those who have gorgeous, fabulous hair don’t often heat style their hair. Hair dryers, curling irons, and flat irons are a big no-no in the world of beautiful hair – but if you can’t stay away from yours for long, at least allow your hair to air dry once a week, such as on the weekend.
Caring for your hair without the use of a brush can be done, believe it or not – and it’s one of the tricks to having the most beautiful, damage-free hair possible. If you absolutely must use a brush, opt for a comb first – and work from the roots up, grasping the hair as if you were putting it into a ponytail to avoid breakage and pulling off the hair, and damage to the scalp. If you need to utilize a brush, opt for a soft bristled brush whenever possible.
Eating healthy for healthy hair is just as important as any of the other factors we have mentioned here. Consuming low-fat products, tons of protein, and fruits and vegetables is a great way to have beautiful hair from the inside out.
Towels and Sheets
When it comes to your sheet and pillowcase set, opt for silk. Silk won’t disrupt your hair – and in fact, it will help your hair to look better the next day. Many women with beautiful hair wrap their hair in silk scarves before bed. When it comes to towels, if you have naturally frizzy or curly hair, stay away from towels altogether – and use disposable paper towels to blot the hair instead. This will keep frizz and unruly flyaways at bay.
Section Before Drying
If you are planning on blow drying your hair, be sure to section off your hair before hand. Not only will it save you precious and valuable time, but it will also help your style to look better because you are working with less hair, and keep things stress free as the other hair won’t get in your way. It will also provide a more thorough drying process. You can use hair clips or hair ties to create 4 to 6 sections of hair in which to work with.
Taking good care of your hair is one of the best ways to have beautiful hair – it’s just common sense. Caring for your hair from the inside out, though, is essential. Be sure to take a daily multivitamin to infuse your hair with the vitamins and minerals it needs to grow healthy and strong, and also drink plenty of fresh, clean water – at least 8-10 glasses per day – to provide moisture to the hair as well.
